(CEO: Gwan Sun Lee) disclosed on 27th that a new global anti-hypertension combination product, Amosartan, has obtained a composition patent (patented number: JP2011547746) in Japan. Amosartan is a fixed-dose combination product containing two different classes of anti-hypertension treatments, ARB(Losartan) and CCB(Amlodipine), and this patent is for the technology that increased the efficacy and safety by minimizing the interaction between two drug substances. Hanmi has applied for the formulation technology patents of Amosartan in 45 countries world-wide including the US, Europe and other advanced pharmaceutical countries since 2006, and the patents were registered in 15 countries so far. Amosartan’s efficacy has been proven as its clinical results were continuously registered in several SCI international journals including BMC(BioMed Central Research Notes) in 2011 and AJCD(American Journal of Cardiovascular Drugs) in 2012, Clinical Therapeutics and etc, and its safety has also been confirmed from a Phase 4 clinical study results with diuretic combination drug in 2013. The company said that “Amosartan is the representative product from Hanmi which generates the revenues of $70 billion dollar a year since the first release in 2009, and its continuous growth is expected through the secured technology based on the patents.” Meanwhile, Amosartan will be launched in 55 countries including those 52 countries that are being sold by MSD under the trademark ‘Cozaar XQ’. Recently, its drug compliance has been improved by reducing the width of the dosage form about 2mm.
