Daewoong Pharmaceutical signed strategic tie-up with Sandoz Korea for ‘Sandoz Zoledronic acid Injection’, an osteoporosis treatment agent - Unrivalled brand with excellent efficacy, garnering large share of osteoporosis market - Sales slated to be in full-swing, targeting hospitals and clinic from September Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd(President: Lee Jong-wook) signed a strategic tie-up with Sandoz Korea Co.,Ltd(President: Park Soo-joon) for ‘Sandoz Zoledronic acid Injection’, an osteoporosis treatment agent administered once a year, and embarked upon full-fledged sales activities. Under this partnership, Daewoong Pharmaceutical will move ahead with the sale of Sandoz Zoledronic acid Injection targeting the hospitals and clinics nationwide from September. Sandoz Zoledronic acid Injection, a bisphosphonate injection for osteoporosis treatment, has the proven efficacy in reducing hip joint fracture , new fracture incident and mortality .  In addition, Sandoz Zoledronic acid Injection, has the strongest binding force  with bone mineral among the bisphosphonate agents and FPP synthase inhibition (inhibiting the function of osteoclasts) Less than 50% of patients taking oral bisphosphonates continue treatment with bisphosphonates a year later(based on 1 year period).  Patients with medication compliance below 50% do not show significant difference in fracture risk as compared to patients not taking medication at all. Therefore, injectable ‘Sandoz Zoledronic acid Injection’ administered once a year is expected to increase annual adaptability of patient and has the advantage that patients will be limited to one-time test and one dose in a year. Unlike the oral bisphosphonates that has to be taken on empty stomach and requires patients to sit or stand upright for certain minutes after taking a dose, the injectable dosage form can be administered without such problems and useful for many patients with chronic disease who have to take a lot of drugs.
