According to UBIST, ‘Sevikar HCT’ sales was 4.4 billion won in 2013, 10.7 billion won in 2014 and 19.3 billion in 2015. In January and February of 2016, its sales were 18.7 billion and 19.2 billion won, respectively. A mixture of Amlodipine, Olmesartan Medoxomil and Hydrochlorothiazide, ‘Sevikar HCT’ is a triple-drug combination for treating hypertension developed by Daiichi-Sankyo. It was jointly marketed in Korea by Daewoong Pharmaceuticals and Daiichi-Sankyo Korea starting in 2013. Two companies elected high product quality to explain the status of Sevikar HCT. As the only triple-drug combination treatment, it works very well for patients whose blood pressure is not controlled by double combination drugs. Also, its single pill administration is easy and convenient for patients. In a clinical test conducted in 2015, Sevikar HCT was administered to 623 patients with moderate hypertension. Whereas a double combination drug of Amlodipine and Olmesartan Medoxomil were not effective, Sevikar HCT displayed significant reduction in both systolic and diastolic pressure. After 4 weeks of administering the double combination drug, systolic and diastolic pressure dropped by 7.93 and 4.23mmHg, respectively, but the triple combination drug dropped by 14.75 and 9.5mmHg, respectively; after 8 weeks, the double combination drug dropped systolic and diastolic pressure by 9.01 and 5.74mmHg, but the triple combination drug dropped by 16.30 and 11.39mmHg. There was no extraordinary reaction visible in the two groups, proving that Sevikar HCT was, in fact, was effective for Koreans. Prof. Dongju Oh from Department of Cardiology in Korea University Guro Hospital said, “Compliance is most important in administering antihypertensive drugs. Sevikar HCT is highly compliant with just the one small pill.” Suhyeon Pak, a Daewoong Pharmaceuticals PM, said, “I am happy to see the annual growth ‘Sevikar HCT’ makes by the cooperation between Daewoong Pharmaceuticals and Daiichi-Sankyo Korea. We will do our best to market the extraordinary product quality and reach sales of 30 billion won this year.”
