December 7, 2024 — ROCKVILLE, MD : NeoImmuneTech, Inc. (NIT), a T cell-focused therapeutics company, announced today the oral presentation of a study led by Duke University confirming the potential of NeoImmuneTech ’s long-acting Interleukin-7 asset (NT-I7) to promote T cell reconstitution following radiation injury, at ASH 2024 annual meeting (7-10 December 2024, San Diego, CA). The pre-clinical study, led by the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy, at the Duke University School of Medicine (Durham, NC), evaluated the effects of NT-I7 on irradiated mice. The results showed that NT-I7 induces rapid peripheral and systemic T cell recovery following total body irradiation involving both thymic-dependent and thymic-independent pathways. NT-I7 promotes both primary and recall functional T cell recovery after radiation exposure, indicating that NT-I7 is a promising therapeutic candidate for significantly accelerating recovery of functional T cells after radiation exposure. These findings represent a significant milestone in NeoImmuneTech’s efforts to develop effective treatments for Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS), addressing a critical unmet medical need in radiation-induced immunodeficiency. "We are thrilled to see that NT-I7 has the potential to be the first treatment for lymphocyte recovery in ARS,” said Luke Oh, President and CEO of NeoImmuneTech.” Today’s results from Dr Benny Chen’s team’s work with irradiated mice build on our discussions with the FDA to ensure comprehensive data from animal studies align with the administration’s license application criteria. We look forward to continuing our efforts to accelerate the preparation of a Biologics License Application of NT-I7 in 2025." Dr. Benny Chen, Professor of Medicine, Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy, at the Duke University School of Medicine (Durham, NC), is a member of NeoImmuneTech's Scientific Advisory Board. His team has been conducting research on the efficacy of NT-I7 in T cell amplification and recovery following radiation exposure since 2019. Their work’s non-clinical findings were presented at the Radiation Injury Treatment Network (RITN) and the Radiation Research Society (RRS) in 2022. Those early results were the foundation of a development collaboration agreement between NeoImmuneTech and NIAID for a rodent study of NT-I7 in ARS.
