Press Release 1/2 September 28, 2026 Tanabe Pharma Out-licenses MT-2990, a Fully human anti-IL-33 monoclonal antibody Tanabe Pharma Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; Representative Director, CEO: Akihisa Harada; hereinafter "Tanabe Pharma") announced today that it has granted Tolerance Bio, Inc. (Headquarters: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; hereinafter "Tolerance Bio") worldwide development rights and exclusive commercialization rights outside Japan for "MT-2990," a fully human anti -interleukin-33 (IL- 33) monoclonal antibody developed by Tanabe Pharma. MT-2990 is a human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that binds to and neutralizes IL- 33. IL-33 is released extracellularly as a signal of cellular stress or tissue damage and acts as an alarmin molecule, activating both innate and adaptive immune responses. Dysregulated IL- 33 signaling has been implicated in inflammatory pathways believed to contribute to thymic dysfunction and the progressive decline of immune function with age as well as acute thymic atrophy involution in certain immune conditions. MT-2990 has been administered to more than 150 subjects across five clinical studies,generating clinical data on its safety, tolerability, and favorable pharmacokinetics. Moving forward, Tolerance Bio will assume responsibility for its development with further clinical development expected in new indications aligned with the company’s strategy. The out-licensing of MT-2990 demonstrates that Tanabe Pharma’s scientific expertise and its strengths in immunology, drug discovery, and clinical development, which contributed to this new partnership. Under the terms of the agreement, Tanabe Pharma will receive up to approximately USD560 million in potential development and sales milestone payments, as well as equity consideration and tiered royalties based on net sales. This agreement will enhance Tanabe Pharma’s financial and strategic flexibility, while the retention of commercialization rights in Japan aligns with the company’s Japan- focused strategy.
