Currently held in San Diego, USA, the 15th World ADC San Diego conference announced the 2024 World ADC Awards winners at 6 pm (US PST) on November 6. OBI Pharma’s novel anticancer drug, OBI-992, was shortlisted from over a thousand nominated candidates, earning a spot among the top eight contenders for the “2024 Most Promising Clinical Candidate” award. This year, the awards ultimately went to Daiichi Sankyo’s two ADC drugs, Raludotatug Deruxtecan (R-DXd) and Ifinatamab Deruxtecan (I-DXd). while OBI-992 ultimately fell short of winning, Dr. Heidi Wang, CEO of OBI Pharma, remarked that its place among the top eight contenders amidst fierce competition with major global pharmaceutical companies is a strong testament to OBI Pharma’s contributions in ADC development and an honor to be recognized on the international stage. Dr. Wang pointed out that, in addition to OBI Pharma, this prestigious shortlist includes renowned ADC companies such as AbbVie, Daiichi Sankyo, SystImmune, LigaChem, MBrace Therapeutics, and Sichuan Kelun-Biotech in partnership with Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD). Achieving a top-eight ranking among such distinguished competitors is an honor and a source of pride for OBI Pharma. OBI-992, a novel TROP2-targeting ADC, is currently undergoing Phase I/II clinical trials in the U.S. for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including gastric and lung cancers, and received Orphan Drug Designation in gastric cancer treatment from the FDA in August. Dr. Wang emphasized that OBI Pharma’s cancer treatment strategy is twofold: advancing OBI-992 as a best-in-class ADC therapy and showcasing its proprietary GlycOBI® platform at the World ADC Conference.
