AriBio Appoints Soo Hyun Sung as Co-CEO: “Accelerating the Successful Commercialization of AR1001, the First Oral Disease-Modifying Alzheimer’s Treatment” Co-founder who has worked alongside CEO Jai Jun Choung for 16 years to help drive the company’s vision; veteran biopharma executive with over 25 years of leadership experience expected to lead technology commercialization and global market expansion AriBio, a company specializing in the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases, announced on April 2 that it has appointed Vice Chairman Soo Hyun Sung as Co-Chief Executive Officer, following approval by its shareholders and board of directors at meetings held on March 31. With this appointment, AriBio has established a dual leadership structure with CEO Jai Jun Choung as the company approaches several key milestones, including the completion of global Phase 3 clinical trial for its oral Alzheimer’s disease treatment candidate AR1001 and the announcement of top-line results. Under the new Co-CEO structure, Jai Jun Choung will continue to lead research and development, global clinical development, commercialization, and the advancement of scientific achievements. Soo Hyun Sung will oversee overall management, business strategy, and fundraising, with a focus on supporting the company’s sustainable growth. The company stated that this integrated leadership structure, combining scientific and management expertise, will help build a stronger and more stable foundation for future growth. Soo Hyun Sung is a Co-Founder of AriBio and a veteran executive who has demonstrated leadership in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries for more than 25 years. Guided by a people-centered management philosophy, she has worked alongside CEO Jai Jun Choung since the company’s founding to advance innovative treatments for neurodegenerative brain disorders. She previously served as CEO of AriBio from 2010 to 2019, and later, as Vice Chairman, led fundraising efforts and the development of the company’s research infrastructure. She also contributed to AriBio’s global market expansion and helped lay the groundwork for a stable revenue structure. In particular, she played a key role in advancing AR1001 and, based on the company’s research data in neurodegenerative brain disorders, led the development of the transcranial vibroacoustic stimulation device Herzion. She was also instrumental in successfully launching the hair-loss solution TeloAct, as well as functional cosmetics and health supplement products. AriBio said this leadership transition is expected to accelerate the successful commercialization of AR1001 and further strengthen the company’s transformation into a global innovator in drug development.
