Daewoong Pharmaceutical (CEO Sengho Jeon) announced last 27th that KFDA has approved ‘Olomax,’ the compound of Amlodipine added to ‘Olostar,’ the existing compound of Olmesartan and Rosuvastatin. Daewoong Pharmaceutical has independently developed Olomax, which is the world’s first drug compound that has combined Olmesartan of ARB, Amlodipine of CCB, and Rosuvastatin of Statin to manage hypertension and dyslipidemia at the same time. In the phase-3 clinical study on 265 patients who suffered from both hypertension and dyslipidemia, Olomax lowered the average systolic blood pressure (SBP) by about 14.62 mmHg more compared the group that combined Olmesartan and Rosuvastatin eight weeks into treatment.  At the same time, it dramatically lowered low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) by 52.3% of baseline in average.  The effect on lowering the blood pressure and improving the lipid value was witnessed from the fourth week of treatment. “According to the Korean Society of Hypertension, about half of the patients with hypertension in Korea are also suffering from dyslipidemia,” said Chan Suk Son, the Olomax PM of Daewoong Pharmaceutical.  “Olomax is exceptionally capable of lowering the blood pressure and improving the lipids for the patients, while being convenient to take.  We expect it to grow into a mega-scale product over 20 billion KRW in value within a short period of time with Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s differentiated 4-step marketing strategies.” With the latest approval, Daewoong Pharmaceutical has been able to complete a powerful lineup of hypertension medications, including the independently developed Olostar and Olomax added to Olmetec, Olmetec Plus, Sevikar, and Sevikar HCT that are being co-promoted.  The company is expecting to provide personalized prescriptions for each patient and create synergies with the products to settle as the leader of market of hypertension medications. Olomax will be released in May and there will be two parts according to the composition: 20/5/10 mg and 20/5/5 mg (Olmesartan-Amlodipine-Rosuvastatin). #  #  #
