India FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sun Pharma announces USFDA approval for generic Casodex ® tablets Mumbai, July 7, 2009: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Reuters: SUN.BO, Bloomberg: SUNP IN, NSE:SUNPHARMA, BSE: 524715) announced that USFDA has granted its subsidiary an approval for an Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for generic Casodex ®, bicalutamide tablets. These bicalutamide tablets, USP 50 mg are therapeuticall y equivalent to Casodex® tablets from AstraZeneca. Casodex® tablets have annual sales of approximately USD 314 million in the US. Bicalutamide tablets are an androgen receptor inhibitor indicated for use in combination therapy with a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analog for the treatment of Stage D2 metastatic carcinoma of the prostate.
