Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s NABOTA proves exceptional ‘potency retention’ in clinical and non-clinical studies - Best ‘potency retention after dilution’ among the four Botulinum Toxin products sold in Korea. - Retains the same capacity for wrinkle improvement even when diluted and refrigerated. - The findings published on ‘Dermatologic Surgery,’ an SCI-grade international skin science journal. Daewoong Pharmaceutical (CEO Sengho Jeon) announced on the 1st that its original Botulinum Toxin ‘NABOTA’ proved exceptional ‘potency retention’ through non-clinical and clinical tests. The non-clinical study tested four Botulinum Toxin products’ ‘potency retention after dilution,’ including NABOTA, and was jointly conducted by Professor Gwi Young Park of Chung-ang University College of Medicine and Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s Research Team. Potency refers to the intensity of pharmaceutical efficacies and this was the first study that compared the Botulinum Toxin products’ degree of potency retention in room temperature. The research team diluted four Botulinum Toxin products sold in Korea and measured each product’s potency after storing them in room temperature for 12 weeks. They calculated the difference between the value measured right after dilution and the value after storing them in room temperature for 12 weeks and compared each product’s potency retention capacity. As a result, NABOTA showed the smallest difference after 12 weeks of storage in room temperature compared to the standard value (measurement right after dilution) to prove that NABOTA has the best potency retention among the four products tested. In order to check how much potency decreased over time, each product’s potency was measured 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks after dilution for a statistical analysis. As a result, NABOTA’s graph showed the most moderate slope and the most stable retention of potency. The clinical study conducted by Professor Gwi Young Park of Chung-ang University College of Medicine and Director Choon Shik Yoon of Yemiwon Aesthetic Clinic also confirmed that NABOTA’s effect and safety were retained even when the product was diluted and refrigerated for a certain period of time. The study was conducted to see whether the product stayed effective when it was refrigerated after dissolution. A split-face study was conducted to divide the subjects’ foreheads in half to administer the solution right after dilution and after certain periods of refrigeration (4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks). The effect was assessed by FLGS (Forehead Lines Static/Dynamic Grading Scale, 0=No line, 1=Little lines, 2=Minor, 3=Moderate, 4=Severe), a scale of forehead lines and FLGS assessment and subject satisfaction survey (five-point scale, 1 point = Strongly dissatisfied ~ 5 points = Highly satisfied) were conducted together for up to 24 weeks. The results of FLGS assessment showed no difference when administered right after dilution and after refrigeration (4 weeks, 8 weeks, or 12 weeks). The patient satisfaction survey also showed no difference according to the time of administration after dilution and no serious abnormality related to the drug was reported. The findings have been published in the July and August issues of Dermatologic Surgery Journal, a SCI-grade international journal. “The significance of the latest study was that NABOTA’s product excellence was newly highlighted in the aspect of stability proven by potency,” Director Seongsoo Park of NABOTA Division. “We will continue to support various research activities to scientifically prove NABOTA’s distinguished value to earn the trust of medical practitioners and patients.” # # # [Daewoong Pharmaceutical Image] Daewoong Pharmaceutical proved exceptional ‘potency retention’ of its original Botulinum Toxin ‘NABOTA’ through non-clinical and clinical tests.
