FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sun Pharma announces US FDA approval for generic Glumetza ® Mumbai, August 02, 2016: Sun Pharma (Reuters: SUN.B O, Bloomberg: SUNP IN, NSE: SUNPHARMA, BSE: 524715, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd and includes its subsidiaries or associate companies) today announced that one of its subsidiaries has re ceived final approval from US FDA for its Abbreviat ed New Drug Application (ANDA) for generic version of Glumetza ®, Metformin Hydrochloride extended release tablets 500 mg and 1000 mg. These Metformin Hydrochloride extended release tabl ets are therapeutic equivalents of Santarus Inc.’s Glumetza ® tablets. As per IMS MAT June 2016, these tablets h ave annual sales of approximately US$ 1.2 billion in the US.
